We worked in close association with SDS on the musical Television series Ishaan, produced by Red Chillies Idiot Box, exclusively for Disney. SDS collaborated with us on creating original songs for the series as well as the background score for the show. I have known Kabir Singh for almost ten years now having worked with him in Delhi first. I don’t know of any sound designer for theatre in India who comes anywhere near Kabir’s calibre. When I decided to direct for stage one of my radio plays, the mood of the play was evoked entirely through the soundscape created by Kabir. “Kabir and Kaizad did the complete sound design and scored the background music for my short film.
Music was to play a major role in bringing the film to life, as there was minimum dialogue in the 15 min film. I was very particular about the sound I wanted. After 3 – 4 sessions of music sittings, I got music that was beyond my expectation. I was very impressed the duo’s understanding of the kind of sound I was looking for, and more so, Kaizad’s ability to render that.
On the sound design, since we didn’t have any location sound, a complete sound design had to be created. The sound design Kabir and his team created sounded so natural to the ear – like it was sync sound.
